Hub Project

artists impression

Bolton Villas is at the heart of the community.  Many different groups, organisations and businesses use the buildings facilities during the week.  These range from dance groups to senior citizens groups and toddlers to teenagers.  The building is also in regular use for councillor's surgeries and some neighbourhood/residents groups to name just some.

The building facilities are in desperate need of re-modelling and refurbishing so that these groups and others in the vicinity of Swain House and Wrose have the up to date facilities they deserve which will serve them through into the next decade and beyond.

The Hub Project has been set up to be the umbrella which will make Bolton Villas the Community Space with a Spiritual Heart it wants to continue to be.  The plans are in place, and the funding needed to make the building suitable for future use is being sought from a wide range of sources. The updated facilities will include a vastly improved entrance and access ramp, accessible toilet facilities, safe kitchen, meeting rooms, main hall, cafe and space for the Refreshed Charity shop - which aims to breathe new life into goods and clothing people want to pass on  - community re-cycling at its best!

The artist's impression above gives an idea of the planned new-look.

The Project Management Committee has been working hard on fund raising and the current intention is to start building works in the first quarter of 2009.  Funds are still needed so if you have any ideas on what can be done to help us raise funds to make Bolton Villas the best place to be in the community then please get in touch with Marguerite Sobol who is the Hub Project Administrator by This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Donations and Grants

Thousands of pounds have been raised for the Hub Project through individual donations on an ad-hoc, but also on a regular basis.  We have also had significant advice and support from the Yorkshire Synod of the United Reformed Church and grants from a number of trusts.  Major grants have been received from WREN and Veolia which have made various elements of the overall scheme possible. We also acknowledge the sponsorship of Rural Action Yorkshire who have provided us with funding from Defra's Aggregates Levy Sustainability Fund.  We also acknowledge support and funding from Shipley Area Committee.
