Saturday Seniors

Summer OutingWe are a community based group meeting in Bolton Villas' Church once a month. Our main activity is to provide a Saturday evening social for seniors aged 55+. This consists of a buffet tea plus entertainment. We have a varied programme of events including visiting choirs, small musical groups, games evenings, talks etc. We organise an annual summer outing (previously we have visited Spalding bulb fields, Rhos on Sea, Hawes and Southport) and we have a Christmas party.

We are a fun loving group and believe laughter is a good tonic which contributes to both mental and physical well-being and our speakers are chosen with this in mind.

We are a non-denominational group and the meeting welcomes anyone within the age range specified. Any member of the group is welcome to contribute towards the evening in any form and most of our members who are physically able, do this.

Our membership is 86 and rising with an average of 56 per meeting. We provide a mini bus for those who do not have their own transport and are unable to walk to the meeting. We are organised solely by unpaid volunteers who undertake the Secretary, Treasurer and other roles within the group as well as the organisation of the tea and entertainment at the meeting. We are affiliated to Age Concern.
